Students should allow adequate time to complete the application, which includes procuring three references (at least two of which should be from science faculty) and completing a health form.

Transcripts

For UC students, we will access your official record of UC courses. Please see also the directions below for sending fall grades for any courses taken outside of UC.**

Your UC-student record includes any courses taken at other colleges/universities IF you previously sent them to UC as official transcripts. If you are unsure whether UC received transcripts of external courses, contact your academic advisor who can show you how to find this information. If you discover that you need to send transcripts to UC:

Send Official Transcripts from US institutions to:

University of Cincinnati Office of Admissions
PO Box 210091
Cincinnati, OH 45221-0091

All Non-US University Transcripts require an accompanying course-by-course evaluation by a member of the National Association of Credit Evaluators (naces.org), such as World Education Services (wes.org).  The evaluation must include the number of credit hours taken and a cumulative GPA. Have the evaluator send both the original official transcripts and the course-by-course evaluation to:

University of Cincinnati / Medical Laboratory Science Program
PO Box 670394
Cincinnati, OH 45267-0394
Attention: MLS On-Campus Clinical Admissions

** Grades for the Fall Semester in Which You Are Applying – As soon as grades post for the Fall semester of application, non-UC students must send an unofficial copy of their grades including current cumulative/overall GPA statistics. This applies to UC students ONLY if they took courses at another institution during the Fall semester of application since the program can access students’ UC fall grades.

** Email Fall grade reports to: MLS-Campus-Based@uc.edu Include a Subject line with your first and last name, with your UC M# in the body of your email.

We accept unofficial reports for external (non-UC) Fall semester grades to expedite course evaluation and to save applicants the cost of sending additional transcripts. If students are accepted into clinicals, we require complete official transcripts of all non-UC courses taken prior to starting the clinical year, to verify any grades sent unofficially.

The clinical application is currently unavailable while it is revised for the upcoming application cycle for the 2019-2020 year.

  • The online application link and supporting documents will be located on this page near the end of the fall semester. We are moving to an online application currently under development, so please check back to see when the application becomes available.
  • Application dates and deadlines will be adjusted to reflect the time that the application becomes available.

In the meantime, there are things you can start working on to complete your application:

  • Read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) PDF below which answers many questions about the application process.
  • You will need three references (at least two of which should be from science faculty) to complete a reference form for you. Start identifying people now to ask to serve as your reference. Please read the FAQ section on references more about this.  Let your prospective reference know that you will NOT need a letter (which take some time to write and they are accustomed to sending for references) but they will complete a form which will be on this website with the application. The form requires minimal time to complete, unlike a letter which is not required.
  • Read the section on this page about Transcripts. If you are submitting international transcripts, those require a course-by-course credit evaluation so should be requested as soon as possible to allow for transcript evaluation.
  • Update your resume or create a simple one:
    • List all of the higher education (colleges and universities) you have attended, along with dates (Month/Year) and major. Include the institution you currently attend (UC).
    • List any jobs - paid or volunteer - that you wish to highlight with dates (Month/Year).
    • Write down brief statements about why you are interested in the MLS profession and your educational and career plans.
    • List anything you think we should know about accomplishments or challenges.
    • Having some brief sentences in one place will help you respond to some questions that will be in the application when it becomes available.

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) PDF which answers many questions about the application process.
