The idea for a College of Allied Health Sciences arose in 1994, from a task force created by former UC leaders; Anthony Perzigian, PhD and Donald Harrison, MD.
The task force recognized that UC had disciplines related to healthcare scattered across the university. The disciplines had a lot of commonalities. They were were training students for professional programs in health, held practicum experiences or clinical rotations so that students were able to apply their knowledge and most had a licensure or credentialing component to their field. In order to create more synergy and to make it easier to recruit students, the need for a new college became realized.
In 1998 the college was officially formed. It is the youngest college at the University of Cincinnati today. A collection of health disciplines came together from across the university, relocated to French East and chose its new name, the College of Allied Health Sciences.
Since becoming a college we have started numerous programs (both online and on-campus) to fit the needs of of the current healthcare environment. The School of Social Work also came to our college in 2010 and the Athletic Training program came to our college in 2016. We may be the youngest college, but we have grown tremendously in the last 20 years, which is why we want YOU to celebrate our anniversary with us.
