The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) in the College of Allied Health Sciences houses Academic Advising, which is available to assist future and current students with their academic goals. We are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. While we do welcome drop-ins for quick questions, we strongly encourage current students to make an appointment with their assigned advisor to ensure advisor availability. Prospective students should contact the OSA at 513-558-8556. UC and OSA send official communication to students’ UC email account, so students should check their UC email account daily. Advisors are most easily reached by email.
Academic Advising is an educational process that, by intention and design, facilitates students’ understanding of the meaning and purpose of higher education and fosters their intellectual and personal development toward academic success and lifelong learning (National Academic Advising Association, 2004).
CAHS embraces advising as teaching to:
- Provide the foundation and tools for active learning;
- Model an environment of mutual respect, interdependence and accountability;
- Encourage personal and professional growth through opportunities that promote self-discovery and continuous learning.
The advising syllabus was created to assist you with negotiating the escalating responsibilities of your academic career starting with your transition to college and continuing through graduation. You should refer to the calendars listed on One Stop for important dates and deadlines each semester, academic policy information published by the Office of the Registrar, and the CAHS website for important information.
