Bachelor's Level Test

Bachelor’s Level Exam is one Day and ONLY covers test taking strategy and general information related to generalist content only: (human growth and development, social work ethical principles and application).

Masters, Advanced Generalist and Clinical Exams

Masters, Advanced Generalist and Clinical Exam preparation requires TWO days and covers all test preparation, general information relative to the generalist perspective and the specialized content relative to graduate level training is in day two.

Course Objectives

Participants will be able to: 

  • Identify how to break down questions and identify key words.
  • Apply Bloom’s taxonomy to how questions are formulated.
  • Practice how to take social work practice information and address it in a standardized format.

Overview of Selected Content Areas

  • Identify, differentiate and interpret psychosocial history and collateral data information and how it relates in the social work practice setting, and,assess client problems along with behavioral/psychosocial strengths and weaknesses 
  • Identify diagnosis, assessment and practice intervention with mental and behavioral disorders utilizing the DSM-IV-TR and the multi-axialsystem (Clinical exam participants only) 
  • Define the components of intervention strategies with individuals, groups, families and communities (Clinical exam participants only)
  • Recognize and recite the concepts relative to the major theoretical approaches, models and methods of practice in the social work profession.
  • Identify factors in the therapeutic relationship that facilitate building and retaining relationships.
  • Summarize the major theoretical approaches to understanding human growth and development with individuals, groups and families (Clinicalexam participants only).
  • Recite and synthesize the dynamics of abuse and neglect.
  • Review and interpret the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • Translate the most common policies and procedures that govern service delivery.
  • Tabulate issues relative to practice management, and managed care agencies.
