Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders - Cincinnati - Akron Collaborative Online program

Graduate student with clinic patient using ultrasound to measure tongue movement

The University of Akron and the University of Cincinnati have partnered to offer the Cincinnati - Akron Collaborative Online program which is a graduate program that leads to a master's degree in speech-language pathology. This online program begins in January each year. Students are directly admitted to either the University of Akron or the University of Cincinnati.

At this time, admission to the University of Cincinnati for this program REQUIRES that you live within a 2-3 hour radius of the University of Cincinnati as we are not able to support clinical supervision from greater distances.

A master's degree is necessary for professional certification and licensure as a speech-language pathologist.

When you graduate you will find careers working with children and adults in hospitals, rehabilitation and long term care facilities, speech and hearing clinics, schools, public schools and other educational programs, the armed services, private practice and governmental health agencies.

There is currently a high demand for Speech-Language Pathologists in all settings.

Please see the program Admission Requirements for detailed information on what you need in order to be a successful applicant.

Visit the program's How to Apply page when you are ready to apply.

You are required to complete course work in the areas of language and literacy, phonology, aphasia, motor speech, dysphagia, cognition, voice, fluency, augmentative and alternative communication, management of children with hearing impairment and research.

Upon completion of the program, when you graduate you are eligible for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language pathology (CCC-SLP), licensing in the State of Ohio in speech-language pathology and State of Ohio School licensure.

Review the program outline to access program curriculum(s) and more.
