About Lois

Lois worked as a teacher and advocate in the fields of education and social services for 13 years, and she's excited that she joined CAHS in the role of Academic Advisor in February 2023. She has a passion for working with others as they pursue their unique path. Having lived for much of her life in different neighborhoods of Cincinnati, she will always love this city and our amazing communities.

Lois' Advising Philosophy

Lois believes that the power of relationships can shape how our educational systems impact the future we will share. She tries to practice this philosophy by centering open communication and accountability, and by encouraging students to celebrate their growth. She believes her role as an advisor is to empower all students to make choices with informational integrity, and to support all students with compassion as they navigate their path.

What’s a quote that has influenced or reflects how you define success? Who’s it attributed to? What does it mean to you?

Toni Morrison said, "I tell my students, 'When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.' " I love this quote because it reminds me that success is an ongoing process of growth, relationships, and community!

If you were a student again, which class or subject would you want to take just for fun?

If I were a student, I would love to take a woodworking class for fun. Ideally, I would learn to make a birdhouse!

What’s something you know more about than the average person that isn’t related to your career?

I think I could talk about Carly Rae Jepsen's music for thirty minutes straight.
