Gideon Labiner is an Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati. He teaches in the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Program to both on campus and distant learners. His courses include Molecular Diagnostic Biology, Clinical Hematology, Special Topics in MLS, MLS Capstone and Introduction to Forensic Sciences. Prior to arriving in Cincinnati in 2001, he worked as a Forensic DNA Analyst at Marshall University in West Virginia. His research interests include the pedagogy of online education, interprofessional education (IPE) and health care policy, as well as the current trends and implications of molecular testing.

Beth Warning is an Assistant Professor-Educator within the Medical Laboratory Science Program at the University of Cincinnati where she provides instruction to on-campus students, and facilitates in the distance learning program. Her extensive career in the hospital laboratory includes experience in hematology, chemistry, toxicology, and clinical fluid analysis, as well as management positions as a Program Director of a hospital based MLS Program and Laboratory Director of both a critical access and  immediate response lab. Beth is active at both the state and national level of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), and has been recognized nationally for her professional achievements. She is currently Region IV Director with the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, and a board member of the North Central Kentucky AHEC.

Course Management of all Distance Learning (DL) and Hybrid courses.

Manage course development by working closely with course directors to ensure that the course and learning objectives and learning activities meet the standards required by the MLS Program’s accrediting agency (NAACLS).

Oversee Adjunct Course Directors and Adjunct Faculty to ensure all policies and procedures are followed and timely

Train new adjunct faculty in their roles as Course Director or facilitator.  Primary contact for adjunct faculty.

Manage the Orientation course required for new distance learning students.  This course helps new students transition into distance learning and also familiarizes the students with the MLS Program’s policies and procedures.

Supervise course builds.  This includes keeping the course directors on schedule as well as the IT department within the college.

Perform Quality Control checks for the DL courses prior to and during every run of every course.

Mel Woods is a program manager in the Medical Laboratory Science program. Her experience in higher education includes work at the University of Central Florida, Northern Kentucky University, Daytona College and Seminole College in advising, academic affairs, online instruction, instructional design, enrollment management, planning and assessment, regional campuses, and faculty/staff development and training. She has taught courses in Womens Studies, women and leadership, technical and professional writing, and composition. Previously, Mel worked in the clinical laboratory and holds board certification as an MLT (ASCP) and as a Florida state licensed Medical Technologist (MT). She enjoys helping students achieve their educational and career goals.
